Florida Rep. Brian Mast (R) has called Fort Pierce a “dilapidated city” after his family was the victim of theft. Calling out Mayor Linda Hudson on social media, Rep. Mast did not hold back in his comments.
Taking to social media to share news of the theft committed against his family, Rep. Mast posted a picture of a van without tires, writing that he “spoke to the City of Fort Pierce about the God-awful condition the city is kept in.” “If anyone sees my wife’s rims and tires, please contact Mayor Linda Hudson,” Rep. Mast added.
Subsequently, the Florida Republican has called on Mayor Hudson to resign.

“The mayor shouldn’t resign because my wife’s rims and tires got stolen,” Rep. Mast told WPTV. “She should resign because they have a policy of being reactive, and not proactive, and as a result, she has a dilapidated city that’s ill-maintained,” he explained.
However, Mayor Hudson has responded to his call for her resignation, saying that she appreciates his opinion.
“He is a citizen of Fort Pierce, and he has an opinion,” she said.
Mayor Hudson further commented that she and Rep. Mast share a common goal, explaining that it “is to make our city great and as clean as it can be and as safe as it can be.”
Rep. Mast however doesn’t see things the same way.
“Why are there three grocery carts in the middle of the road again? Why are there garbage bags sitting on the side of the road? Why are kids having to walk in the road because the sidewalk is so overgrown that they literally can’t walk on the sidewalks?” Rep. Mast questioned.
Mayor Hudson instead argues that she has been proactive in responding to the problems of residents, noting that “we have many ways that you can report things.”
“We have an app called ‘See Click Fix’ that you can use. You can take a picture of anything in the city, and we will address it right away, and that is the way that we try to keep all parts of our city clean and safe,” she explained.
