US Representative Cory Mills (R-Fl) expressed his commitment to either "shutdown the border or shutdown the government."

Representative Mills' comments are representative of many Republican lawmakers' willingness to compel Democrats to compromise on immigration reform and tighter border enforcement.

Mills outlined his legislative priority via X as passing "the 12 single-point Appropriation Bills with necessary cuts, reforms, economic growth strategy, and either shut the border or Shutdown the government.”

Last November, conservative lawmakers leveraged government funding to encourage Democrats and President Joe Biden to acquiesce to Republican requests for decreased spending and immigration enforcement.

A government shutdown was averted due to ex-House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy's passage of a temporary spending bill.

With such bill's expiration date nearing, Republicans are once again signaling their commitment to immigration enforcement and fiscal policy includes entering a government shutdown if necessary.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken recently visited Mexico to discuss joint immigration enforcement measures with Mexican officials. A joint US-Mexico press release described the trip reinforced both countries' mission to "address the root causes of migration, such as poverty, inequality, and violence."

However, many Republicans have accused Biden of generating the migrant crisis at the Southwest border via loose immigration laws and the deliberate lack of enforcement of existing immigration laws.

US Representative Anna Paulina-Luna (R-Fl) recently criticized Biden's immigration policies while warning of a new migrant caravan traveling towards the US through central America.

Representative Luna claimed border enforcement legislation is urgently needed to adequately regulate immigration flows across America's borders.

"To hear that this is somehow a humanitarian thing, and we need to just blanket wave these people in. One, it is stupid, but also it is a political talking point. And let me be clear about something. We absolutely have the ability to stop this, and we should " explained Luna.

As 2024 Republican primary candidates scramble to take down former President Donald Trump (R), the road ahead just got a lot steeper as US Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) has just endorsed the former president's campaign.

Scalise is currently the House Majority Leader for Republicans and was a favorite to replace US Rep. Kevin McCarthy after being ousted as Speaker of the House.  Scalise was initially hesitant on who to support in 2024 but solidified his choice in Donald Trump today.

"When Donald Trump was President, American workers and families were thriving.  The economy was strong and interest rates were low — grocery costs were affordable, and families could afford to buy a house and provide for their children," Scalise continued. "The border was secure and crime was down. America had secure energy policies, keeping gas and utility prices low," stated Scalise.

Scalise also got his digs in on President Biden (D), "[Biden] has driven our country into chaos with skyrocketing costs, and hardworking taxpayers are the ones paying the price," and that under his administration, "gas prices more than doubled, housing affordability reached all-time lows, mortgage rates doubled, inflation hit the highest level in 40 years, and interest rates are at the highest level in 22 years."

The Louisiana Congressman certainly feels the moment is right for Trump, as he stated Americans need "a strong leader to fix the problems Joe Biden has created and — with rising aggression from adversaries abroad — deter foreign actors who wish to harm us," noting the "over 6.2 million encounters at the southern border" and the "1.7 million known gotaways" coming and being arrested from "hundreds of countries," not just Latin America.

Marco Rubio-The United States Should Stand by Argentina’s Milei

Rep. Cory Mills -Instead of trying to skip due process and oust George Santos, the House should have been more focused on impeaching Secretary Mayorkas for his failure to secure our southern border.

Just last week, we saw over 12k border crossings in 1 DAY! The Senate has refused to do their job and take up the House-passed border security bill, & instead is using it as political leverage for foreign aid.

I was elected by the people of Florida’s 7th, not a foreign country. My fight is for the American people, & I will continue to put American priorities first

Representative Kathy Castor (D-FL) has introduced legislation to “make American companies more competitive” while simultaneously addressing greenhouse gas emissions by imposing fees on high-carbon imports.

The bill known as the Clean Competition Act, would look to lower emissions globally by creating a “carbon border adjustment.” This policy would impose an adjustment on energy-intensive imports and incentivize decarbonization efforts in domestic manufacturing, according to Rep. Castor’s press release regarding the bill’s announcement.

Additionally, Industries such as fossil fuels, refined petroleum products, petrochemicals, fertilizer, hydrogen, adipic acid, cement, iron and steel, aluminum, glass, pulp and paper, and ethanol would be affected.

“As we work to reduce climate pollution and boost American jobs, we need a renewed focus on leveling the playing field for American goods and products that compete against products from countries that pollute and use unfair advantages,” said Rep. Castor. “The Clean Competition Act is an important complement to the new wave of American manufacturing jobs boosted by the historic Inflation Reduction Act. “

The Florida congresswoman continued by mentioning that this bill would protect American companies from unfair competition.

“American industries are leveraging a wide range of technologies to drive down industrial air pollution and achieve greater sustainability,” said Castor. “Our Clean Competition Act will help reward these innovations, strengthen America’s industrial base, and protect us from unfair competition in the global marketplace while ensuring that China and other nations are doing their part to reduce pollution and environmental impacts.”

75% of the fees levied from high-carbon imports would fund the efforts of American companies to reduce carbon footprints while 25% would be allocated to the State Department to “help developing countries decarbonize.”

Elizabeth Gore, the Senior Vice President for Political Affairs, Environmental Defense Fund, endorsed the bill.

“Manufacturing accounts for nearly one-quarter of U.S. climate pollution and is a rapidly growing sector globally. Reducing climate pollution is vital for a stable climate and healthy, thriving communities,” said Gore. “The Clean Competition Act can create a race to the top among global competitors as part of a larger effort to move toward a low-carbon economy, while opening a dialogue about additional efforts needed to address local pollution impacts on frontline communities.”

Republicans have a slim majority in the House of Representatives and with the expulsion of George Santos and the announced retirement of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy at the end of end of the year, this could be the best shot for this bill to pass in the 118th Congress.

DeSantis Wins 4th Debate in Alabama

As expected, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gave an outstanding performance at the fourth Republican presidential primary debate in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Gov. DeSantis appeared on top of his game, looking more comfortable on stage than he's appeared in the past three debates.

The field of candidates has significantly narrowed—Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and DeSantis

While Gov. Christie skewered Ramaswamy, and as Ramaswamy continued his one-man wrecking ball campaign against former Ambassador Nikki Haley, DeSantis stayed above the fray, and passionately (without many quirks and fake smiles) disseminated his campaign message.

Ambassador Haley did well, as always, but this was DeSantis's night.

Also, it appears as if DeSantis took our advice and bought a new tailored suit.

But while DeSantis won the night, the real overall winner of the debate was former President Donald Trump, who has skipped all of the debates.

Trump contends that he doesn't need to debate anyone because he is way up in the polls. That's a good point.

DeSantis keeps calling Trump out to debate him, but those requests have fallen on deaf ears.

With the Iowa Caucuses a month away, Trump continues to crush the field of candidates in all the public opinion polls.

DeSantis "influencers" and surrogates are frantically trying to spin and argue that ALL the polls being conducted are "fake" and paid for by Trump.

No one is buying that pile of bullshit.

Squeezers

Ron DeSantis- We need a reckoning for what this government did during COVID-19.

State Rep. Angie Nixon-Our greed and cell phone addiction has led to Black Babies in Congo basically becoming slaves. Please educate yourself of the crisis happening and support this organization as they work to help combat this. @congofriends

Carolina Amesty-It was an honor to meet with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to discuss House Bill 79. This bill will require those convicted of causing a death while driving drunk to pay child support if the victim’s children are minors. Florida is a pro-family state and I will continue to make the well-being of every child my top priority.

Sen. Jason Pizzo-Someone tell @GovRonDeSantis that prosecutors are called State Attorneys in Florida, not District Attorneys.

Rep. Matt Gaetz-Former @SpeakerMcCarthy is quitting Congress. He’s essentially saying if he cannot run the place as Speaker, then he will leave.

There’s an Establishment Exodus from the House Republican Conference. It’s my hope that we backfill these establishment entities with folks who are willing to fight for the America First agenda.

But for all of the self-congratulatory videos that McCarthy may make, his unwillingness to stay and vote for even the most basic Republican priorities until the end of his term may imperil our ability to get the job done.

Gus Bilirakis-During our oversight hearing this week, I asked @NTIAgov officials about the implementation of programs to improve broadband connectivity in rural areas. I want to be sure our community receives its fair share of allocated funds.

Jared Moskowitz -It’s time to make significant changes at the border. We should do that with Ukraine and Israel and humanitarian funding.

Representative and former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has announced that he will retire at the end of the month. This shocking news brought responses from members of Congress from around the country.

In his announcement, Rep. McCarthy said that serving in Congress has been “my greatest honor.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R), who is largely credited for Rep. McCarthy's demise, took a victory lap after news broke that the former Speaker of the House has called it quits.

“As the son of a firefighter from Bakersfield, my story is the story of America. For me, every moment came with a great deal of devotion and responsibility. Serving you in Congress and as the 55th Speaker of the House has been my greatest honor,” said Rep. McCarthy.

Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) – a steadfast supporter of the high-ranking Republican – said that McCarthy encouraged him to run for office.

“Speaker McCarthy is a leader of conviction and I have been proud to stand alongside him. Speaker McCarthy encouraged me to run for Congress and has been an incredible advocate for our community & the nation. We will miss you on the House Floor, my friend,” said Rep. Gimenez.

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA) said that she was “proud to serve under his leadership.”

“Kevin McCarthy was an incredible Speaker. While he will be leaving Congress in a few weeks, I know his service to our party & our country won’t end anytime soon. I’m proud to have served under his leadership but even more proud to call him a friend. Thank you, Mr. Speaker,” said Rep. Hinson.

However, more conservative members of the Republican Party were not quick to congratulate the former Speaker or give him his flowers.

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a longtime opponent to McCarthy, kept it brief.

“McLeavin’,” Rep. Gaetz said.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) did not make a passing statement at McCarthy, but simply addressed the concerns surrounding Republicans facing a shrinking majority in the House following this announcement and the expulsion of former Representative George Santos (R-NY).

“Well … Now in 2024, we will have a 1 seat majority in the House of Representatives. Congratulations Freedom Caucus for one and 105 Rep who expel our own for the other. I can assure you Republican voters didn’t give us the majority to crash the ship. Hopefully no one dies,” said Rep. Taylor Greene.

According to Business Insider, the vacancies of McCarthy, Santos, and Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) will leave the balance of power at 219-213.

House Republicans' impeachment inquiry into President Biden continues to dig up more damning information. The latest case shows First Son Hunter Biden began a series of monthly payments to his father Joe through his firm Owasco PC beginning in 2018. As a result, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) said he was "fully in support" of starting a formal impeachment proceeding against the President in a recent appearance on the Kimberly Guilfoyle Show.

More to the point, Rep. Mills said he "thought there was enough circumstantial evidence for us to have gone through with the inquiry, to begin with, and start getting the necessary depositions in place." However, he acknowledged the necessity of electing Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as holding up the process for a month after Representative Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) ouster.

Nevertheless, Rep. Mills reiterated that he is "fully in support of impeaching Joe Biden for the crimes that he has actually committed," referencing the various dots found in the House's investigation, such as the $40,000 check derived from a $400,000 payment from the Chinese ("10% for the Big Guy") and the wire transfers listing the Biden Delaware residence as its beneficiary despite Hunter not living there at the time.

"All of these things paint a very grim picture when you think about how much money has been cycling through the Biden crime family from countries, like not just China, but Ukraine and Romania and many, many others who are not exactly a partner relationship or diplomatic tie to the United States, and so this is clear pay-for-play," Mills continued.

Hence, he believed this is why Biden has made decisions such as ignoring the southern border crisis while "he continues to send money abroad into these quagmire wars" and the weakness shown in the face of China.

The latter point was speculated on earlier this year by Representative Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) in June, who said Biden "is inconsistent in a lot of things, but he is pretty consistently helping Chinese interests."

Earlier in November, Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) claimed the January 6th surveillance footage tapes would be released. Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) recently appeared on Andrew Wilkow's radio program, seemingly confirming their release "in tranches" on an unmentioned website "in days."

Wilkow posted the audio clip on X (formerly Twitter), which started off with a discussion with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and how he differs from previous Republican Speakers. Rep. Gaetz agreed with the sentiment, saying, "Look at what has already happened during the speakership: We finally got the subpoenas prepared to go out to Hunter and Frank Biden, that had not happened during the entirety of the [Kevin] McCarthy (R-CA) speakership."

From here, Rep. Gaetz said he "could bring some news with you" on the upcoming release of the January 6th tapes.

"The way that the January 6th tapes will be through a website, where any member of the public can go and observe the videos that are being released. My expectation is, they are going to be released in tranches and that the first tranche to be released will be in days, not weeks," Gaetz continued.

The Florida Congressman did not give a name to any specific website, Rep. Luna previously claimed to The Blaze would upload the footage. Perhaps a new website specifically for uploading the tapes?

Regardless, Gaetz has long been demanding the release of the security camera tapes from January 6th, saying in January 2023 that the footage would show "a lot of exculpatory evidence" that the protesters "never intended to harm anyone, and never intended to breach any type of security barrier."

In September, he attended a vigil held for prisoners taken on January 6th, vowing to release the footage prior to McCarthy's ouster.

"I believe that it is critically important that we get a full release of the January 6th tapes as Speaker McCarthy promised. I do not believe that he has fulfilled that promise. I think that is dishonest, particularly to people who have borne the brunt of this two-tiered justice system," Gaetz told the vigil attendees.

UPDATE: Speaker Johnson announced links are available to view the footage on X:

Congressman Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) amendment to restrict funding for a new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) building failed in the House of Representatives.

Rep. Gaetz’s amendment failed by a vote of 145 to 273. It would’ve been a part of H.R. 4664, also known informally as the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill.

The Florida congressman said, “We should not be awarding nefarious behavior.”

“Time after time we have seen the FBI target President Trump, people who believe in the Second Amendment, parents attending school board meetings, and more recently, some of their own brave FBI whistleblowers who have spoken up about the weaponization of our Federal Government,” said Rep. Gaetz. “We should not be awarding nefarious behavior by wasting hundreds of millions of dollars for a new headquarters in the DC-area.”

He concluded, mentioning, “Although my amendment failed, I will continue my fight to defang and defund government agencies that have been weaponized against the American people.”

In a social media post, Gaetz said that those in the FBI should “sit in that rat-infested building.”

“Republicans like Rep. Steve Womack believe the FBI should be rewarded with a new $300M headquarters larger than the Pentagon because the building is ‘crumbling.’ Guess what? Our country is crumbling when a weaponized security state targets the civil liberties of American citizens because of their politics. Those in the J. Edgar Hoover Building should sit in that rat-infested building until they get their act straight,” said Gaetz.

While politicians cannot “win them all,” Rep. Gaetz flexed his big win in Congress as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), a more conservative member, replaced Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in October.

Additionally, single-subject spending bills were back on the table.

With this in mind, Rep. Gaetz praised the House of Representatives for including his amendment in the Department of Interior Appropriations bill which aims to protect small businesses in Northwest Florida, particularly Crab Island.

Rep. Gaetz believes his amendment was able to be passed due to the switch to single-subject spending bills – a major rallying cry for his and the Freedom Caucus’ efforts in January and October as Republicans were looking to unite behind a Speaker.

“Because we had a single-subject spending bill on the Department of the Interior, I was able to go to the floor of the House of Representatives to make the case that our state and local governments are best prepared to manage Crab Island, not the federal Department of the Interior,” said Rep. Gaetz.

Members of Congress will need to decide how they want to approach the looming government shutdown, which will occur Nov. 17.

Nikki Haley-We need to stop lying to the American people.

Neither party has the votes in Congress to pass a full abortion ban or an abortion-on-demand bill.

Let’s work together to save as many babies and help as many moms as possible.

Ron DeSantis-We must reverse our country's decline and that is going to require leadership.

I will take the hits. I will take the arrows. I will take the barbs. Because it's not about me — it's about you. It's not about the past. It's about your future.

We are going to fight for you. I am going to win for you and your family and I'm going to lead this country's revival.

Vivek Ramaswamy-I have another radical idea for the Republican Party: we need to be a party of winners, not a party of losers.,

Chris Christie-You can’t truly say you love America unless you’re ready to open up your heart to every American. I’m going to open up my heart to every American as President, and I’ll return honesty and integrity to the Oval Office. We deserve and should accept nothing less.

Tim Scott-We need a renewal, a great awakening!

We should reject the Left’s valueless, faithless, fatherless society.

We should turn back to faith, patriotism, and individual responsibility.
