Bill Introduced in Florida Senate Requires Driver's Licenses to Showcase Citizenship Status

State Senator Joe Gruters (R-FL) has introduced legislation labeled SB 1168 – relating to forms of identification. Happy New Year! Feliz Año Nuevo! While the 2024 Florida Legislative session begins next week, we are all still focused on Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Republican presidential primary race, which could begin or end for him when Iowans caucus on January 15^th.

There could be an Elvis sighting soon.

And now the end is here

And so I face that final curtain

My friend I'll make it clear

I'll state my case, of which I'm certain...

It’s not looking good for Gov. DeSantis, even though his so-called “influencers” or “zombies” are desperately trying to spin a potentially massive election night loss in Iowa and New Hampshire.

If DeSantis loses badly in both states, there is a good chance he will drop out and concede to Ambassador Nikki Haley and former President Donald Trump.

The latest state-level polls taken in Iowa Show President Trump with a commanding lead over both Haley and DeSantis, who are battling it out for second place with 16 and 18 percent support from those surveyed, respectfully.

The polling is worse for DeSantis in New Hampshire, where he is currently in 4^th place,  polling in single digits behind former Governor Chris Christie, Haley, and Trump.

What caused DeSantis’s presidential campaign to derail?

DeSantis.

We have accurately pointed out that DeSantis’s communications and online efforts will lead to his campaign demise because he decided to hire rookie political operatives with a total of two weeks of on-the-job experience.

But while the likes, amateurish antics of Andrew Romeo and Christina Pushaw pushed him over the cliff, it was DeSantis's initial “birdbrain” idea of trying to run a top-to-bottom presidential campaign instead of the traditional bottom-up approach that so many Republican presidential candidates before him have successfully done.

Instead of DeSantis jumping in an old pick-up truck and cruising around shaking hands and kissing babies, DeSantis started with a bloated and Swamp-like bureaucratic campaign that kept him at a distance from the media, and limited access to potential voters.

After the campaign almost went bust (reboot), DeSantis switched it up a bit, but the damage was already done.

Regardless of his position as Governor of Florida, DeSantis is just a regular dude who has always been reclusive, but 2024 showed many Americans that he, like most politicians, is all about himself.

Forget about non-immediate family. Forget about friends. Forget about who got him to where he is today.

If you don’t have something immediate to offer DeSantis, you are irrelevant to him.

DeSantis is the epitome of a transactional career politician, who has entrusted amateur spokespeople to guide his political career along.

Yeah, it seems like DeSantis will lose in Iowa and the rest of the states, but this is American politics, anything can happen.

We will say it again, if DeSantis can finish at a respectable second place in all of the early voting states, all bets could be off in the contentious race.

Meanwhile, the State-of-the-State address will be next week, it will be interested to hear what DeSantis focuses on before jetting back out to Iowa.

There is a high probability that DeSantis will miss a bulk of the legislative session because he is campaigning in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, and in Super Tuesday states.

Florida Republican Legislators have introduced sister bills in the state Senate and House of Representatives that would prohibit state and local governments from displaying certain flags. 

Senator Jonathan Martin (R-33) filed the senate version of the bill yesterday, December 28th. 

The bill specifically prohibits displaying flags that represent “a political viewpoint, including, but not limited to, a politically partisan, racial, sexual orientation and gender, or political ideology.”

Under Senator Martin’s bill, any unit of local government, including public schools, public colleges, and public universities, would be prohibited from displaying LGBTQ flags. 

Individuals’ First Amendment rights to exercise speech and other forms of expression are explicitly exempt from Martin’s proposed legislation.  

“The governmental entity must remain neutral when representing political viewpoints in displaying or erecting a flag,” continues the bill. 

Earlier in December, Miami State Rep. David Borrero (R) filed the House version of the public Gay-flag ban.

However, as the Floridian’s Javier Manjarres explained, the ban would also apply to any politically-charged flags. Such flags could include Blue Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter, Pride, or Confederate flags.

Martin has filed numerous bills in anticipation of the upcoming 2024 legislative session. 

Recently, Martin filed a bill that would protect public monuments, including Confederate memorials, from being removed or relocated without legislative approval. 

Senator Jay Collins (R) filed a companion bill in the Florida Senate that allowed for POW-MIA flags, flags of foreign nations, and flags of the branches of the United States Armed Forces, to be flown.

Borrero's measure allows for the U.S., Florida, POW-MIA, and Firefighter Memorial flags to be hoisted.

Recently, Martin filed another bill that  would alter Florida law regarding how immunization requirements are to be adopted and expand potential exemptions to them.

Per the bill, the Florida Department of Health (FDH) and any other state or local authorities would be prohibited from imposing any vaccine requirements without legislative approval.

Florida Senator Jonathan Martin (R-33) has filed a bill that would protect public monuments, including Confederate memorials, from being removed or relocated without legislative approval. 

Senator Martin’s “Historical Monuments and Memorials Protection Act” would direct Florida’s Historical Commission to counsel Florida executive officials on monument preservation. 

The act claims that “an accurate and factual history belongs to all Floridians and future generations and the state has an obligation to protect and preserve such history.”

 Such obligation, continues the act, includes circumventing “any local government elected officials who may be swayed by undue influence by groups who may feel offended or hurt by certain actions in the history of the state or the nation.” 

Martin attempted to pass a similar bill last February. Despite being approved by two separate committees, however, the proposal was never brought to the floor for a vote. 

Under Martin’s new legislation, local governments and individuals are barred from unilaterally removing monuments displayed on public property.

Aside from the imposition of penalties for those violating the bill, individuals involved in the design, care, erection, or care of the monument would be able to sue the violators for damages.

Additionally, individuals regularly using the monument for remembrance would also be eligible to sue violators of the bill. 

Local governments that remove, alter, or damage a monument would have to restore it to its original condition. If the local government cannot restore the monument, Florida would assume restoration responsibilities. However, all arts, cultural, and historic preservation funding would be withheld from the local government until it reimburses Florida for the restoration cost. 

If passed, the bill would take effect on July 1, 2024.

If passed, the FDH and any other state or local authorities would be prohibited from imposing any vaccine requirements without legislative approval.

Florida Senator Jonathan Martin (R-33) has filed a bill that would alter Florida law regarding how immunization requirements are to be adopted and expands potential exemptions to them.

The bill would require the Florida Department of Health (FDH) to obtain approval of the Legislature to add any new immunizations to those required for school attendance. 

Additionally, the FDH and any other state or local authorities would be prohibited from imposing any vaccine requirements without legislative approval. Adopting recommended compulsory vaccination policies endorsed by international organizations or national vaccine requirements enacted during public health emergencies would similarly be prohibited.

Exemptions would be granted for individuals refusing to receive required state vaccines if these have not been fully approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to the bill, full approval does not include vaccines that the FDA has authorized for emergency use only.

Florida Senator Ileana Garcia (R-36) filed a similar bill in late November. 

Senator Martin’s bill expands Garcia’s own, as Garcia’s only includes vaccine exemption language. 

Last October, Garcia also proposed legislation that would require Law Enforcement Officials to supervise ballot box transportation on election days. 

If enacted, police would have to be present “at all times during an election” to ensure ballot box security. 

Garcia’s proposal would also have law enforcement officers “transport the ballot box or ballot transfer container” from election offices to corresponding precincts.

Election integrity has become a prevalent issue, especially for Republicans, following former President Donald Trump’s claims of widespread election interference during the 2020 elections.   

President Trump was recently barred from the Colorado primary after the Colorado Supreme Court found that the capitol riots on January 6th “easily satisfy (the) definition of “insurrection.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, despite claiming Colorado’s decision would be eventually overturned by the US Supreme Court, declared he would not be withdrawing from the Colorado primary.

Florida Senator Joe Gruters (R) has filed a bill that would outlaw many private or public immunization requirements. 

The law defines vaccine requirements as the imposition of a medical procedure designed to stimulate the human body’s immune response against communicable, i.e., contagious, diseases. 

Affected vaccines would include those targeting COVID-19, Flu, and similar contagious diseases. 

Neither private nor public employers would be able to impose immunization requirements on potential or current employees nor alter employment conditions or benefits based on immunization status. 

If passed, the State of Florida would also be prohibited from mandating compulsory immunization tracking, 

Additionally, barring individuals from accessing any public or private service depending on their immunization status would also be prohibited. 

The act would go into effect July 1st, 2024. 

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) attempted to convince the legislature to pass similar legislation earlier this year but was ultimately unable to.

Governor DeSantis has relied in the past on executive decrees to ban vaccine requirements in Florida. 

During the COVID pandemic, DeSantis staunchly opposed calls for increased government intervention through lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine requirements.

In 2021, the popular idea of vaccine passports caused a political storm within the Florida legislature. 

In spite of torrential criticism for his policies, DeSantis’ Florida emerged from the pandemic with similar death rates to those of states with stringent health regulations. 

Additionally, the synergy produced by decreased health regulations and free-market economics has made Florida one of the fastest-growing states in the US both in population and economy.

DeSantis Hits Final Stretch in Presidential Campaign

His campaign started off with a catastrophic stumble and firings, but even though Gov. Ron DeSantis is trailing former President Donald Trump in all the public opinion polls by "bigly" numbers, he could still be in contention to win the GOP presidential nomination.

Maybe.

President Trump's support across the nation is solid, regardless of the indictments and lawsuits,

DeSantis's has been dropping like a rock but shows glimmers of promise.

Now that Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds is set to endorse him, DeSantis's prospects of gaining more traction are pretty good.

This past weekend at the Florida GOP "Freedom Summitt" in Kissimmee, Florida, which just so happens to be done the road from the land of Mickey, who DeSantis has a big beef with, the Republican faithful turned out in big show of support for DeSantis when he addressed the group.

DeSantis's speech was stellar. It hit all the points. First Lady Casey DeSantis's address was also on point.

Now, fast forward about 5 hours later when President Trump showed up to speak, the mood in the room completely changed.

It appeared that Trump's support at the summit was double that of DeSantis's.

The atmosphere was nothing less than electric.

This was a typical Trump-esque indoor rally.

It was obvious that Trump won the day, and many attendees we spoke to said glowing things about both men, but added that the would like to see Trump as President and DeSantis stay as governor, for now.

The sentiment in the room was that they wanted DeSantis to wait it out for 2028.

DeSantis's campaign team is made up of very few veteran consultants, and is comprised of mainly very green, very dumb, and very ignorant staffers, specifically his communications team which is comprised of nitwits that have let their egos get the best of them.

DeSantis's biggest problem is his comms team. They really suck at their jobs, especially his untruthworthy, cowardly, and injection-happy keyboard warriors.

How many stupid mistakes have they make over the past few months? Why haven't them been fired?

That's on DeSantis.

But with all that said, DeSantis needs to have another great debate performance this coming week.

The problem for DeSantis is that Trump is now campaigning and Americans are showing massive support for him.

The polls arent's changing, and now that Florida state lawmakers are flipping their support to Trump (more are expected), things could get tougher for DeSantis before they get easier, if they get easier...READ MORE

- Law and order

- A better life

Governor Ron DeSantis said he would support changes to the liability shield vaccine manufacturers have enjoyed since 1986 if elected President.

"When they did the liability protection, I think it was back in the 80s, I think they honestly believed that, you know if you have trial lawyers coming in it's going to inhibit us developing new cures and new things that will help people," DeSantis told host Shannon Joy on her podcast today.

DeSantis is referring to the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, also known as the Vaccine Act, that provides that "no vaccine manufacturer shall be liable in a civil action for damages arising from a vaccine-related injury or death: (1) resulting from unavoidable side effects; or (2) solely due to the manufacturer's failure to provide direct warnings."

DeSantis said that while he thinks this law was signed with good intent, it has incentivized pharmaceutical companies to put vaccines on the market that may not be safe.

"I think what has happened now it is has shifted incentives actually away from safety," said DeSantis. “The incentives are now to produce anything you can get to the market and then make money off it because you aren’t going to be held accountable for the safety. So yes I would support legislation to fix that because I think we want incentives that are going to be positive for the ultimate health outcome."

"Is the purpose of our health system and these agencies to promote people's health and wellbeing or is it just to let the pharmaceutical companies make more money?" asked DeSantis rhetorically.

DeSantis said the revolving door of pharmaceutical executives going back and forth between government agencies would end under his Presidency.

"Of course a lot of the people who work for the FDA end up going to work for Big Pharma after, so we are going to end the revolving door. We are going to put a grace period in there: five to ten years, whatever would be appropriate so that you can't just keep bouncing back and forth.

DeSantis said he would reign in bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci who made royalty money on the products he was pushing from the White House Press Room.

"We are also going to reign in this idea that the bureaucrats can get all this royalty money. I think that's been very harmful in terms of the incentives it has created," said DeSantis. "We need to have incentives that are going to promote transparency and patient safety."

DeSantis is the only executive in America to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers for possible wrongdoing. That grand jury is expected to return in the next few months.

Governor Ron DeSantis reiterated his promise to hold people accountable for "COVID authoritarianism" if elected President. At a town hall event in Manchester, New Hampshire alongside Florida Surgeon General Joe Ladapo, Gov, DeSantis promised to conduct an overhaul of the CDC, NIH, and FDA.

"We cannot have elites in our society perform this poorly and this consistently without any accountability," DeSantis told the audience. "If there is no accountability for COVID authoritarianism, they are going to try to do this again. As your President, I will conduct a major overhaul of the CDC, NIH, and FDA, and bring a reckoning to Deep State bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci."

Taking the stage before DeSantis at the event which was organized by Pro-DeSantis PAC Never Back Down, Ladapo praised DeSantis for his courage of conviction.

“Can you imagine the courage it took to have all these MDs, and news experts saying that you can’t open schools, people have to stay home?" said Ladapo. "To stare that down, to read the data, to reach a conclusion, to know that conclusion is right, and all of these Harvard MDs and PhDs are wrong—that takes courage. And he embodies that. That is who he is.”

DeSantis hired Ladapo as Florida Surgeon General in 2021 after removing a pro-Fauci Surgeon Genral. When former Surgeon General Scott Rivkees told reporters in April, 2020 that Floridians would have to observe social distancing and masking for possibly a year until a vaccine was available, DeSantis had him removed from the press conference. After that, Rivkees was practically invisible until he was replaced by Ladapo the following year.

Ladapo, a Harvard Medical School graduate and former UCLA professor, led a different approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing personal freedom and opposition to vaccine mandates. Earlier this year, Ladapo has recommended against people under 65 taking the COVID-19 boosters and even questioned whether anyone should be taking them at all.

"What do we have now that the dust has settled?  We have a vaccine, an mRna COVID vaccine that has a terrible safety profile.  I mean that is the truth.  The media, they work over time to rewrite reality, to make people believe that what is happening isn't actually happening," said Ladapo. "At this point in the pandemic, I'm not sure if anyone should be taking it, and that is the honest truth."

After Ladapo spoke, DeSantis spoke and fielded questions from the audience. DeSantis took aim at the World Health Organization, denouncing what he calls a "Lockdown Treaty" and saying he would never allow this to happen as President. DeSantis also reiterated his promise to hold people accountable for the damage done by Covid mandates.

"Enough is enough," DeSantis posted attached to a headline from the Daily Mail reading 'REVEALED: Anthony Fauci-run lab in MONTANA experimented with coronavirus strain shipped in from Wuhan a year BEFORE Covid pandemic began.'

"Anthony Fauci needs to be held accountable, and there must be a reckoning for what Big Pharma and the Medical Swamp did to our country during — and before — COVID. I am the only candidate who will do it."

DeSantis also took aim at the United Nations when a voter asked if the global organization should be defunded.

“Defund the UN. I mean, are you kidding me? What a farce!" exclaimed DeSantis. "I have a belief that we, the American people, are sovereign. We don’t give up sovereignty to international organizations, and that’s a long-held view... The UN is basically a hotbed for antisemitism, anti-Israel. It's some of the worst elements in the world that get together. They couldn't even bring themselves to condemn Hamas massacring all those Israeli civilians.”

Florida Lawmakers Come Together to Show Solidarity with Israel

Speaker Paul Renner and Senate President Kathleen Passidomo called a press conference on Wednesday, inviting legislators from both sides of the aisle to express their support for Israel after the attack it endured over a week ago.

The details of the press conference were kept under wraps for obvious security reasons.

Rep. Fine, who has been the loudest voice of support for Israel, and who has admonished pro-Hamas supporters and national legislators, was surrounded by a security detail he normally doesn't receive.

Rep. Fine and Senator Lauren Book, both Jewish-Americans, gave strong and passionate addresses.
