Republican lawmakers in Washington have stood by Israel and its right to defend itself regardless of mounting political pressures in the Middle East. US Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) has doubled down on his support for Israel, visiting the nation right after IDF forces were pulled from West Bank following a deadly raid.

Protecting the state of Israel has become a policy cornerstone for the politics of Florida Senator Rick Scott.  Scott has long supported the state over its Middle Eastern enemies, especially Palestine.

Senator Scott even blasted his colleague, US Rep. Rashida Talib (D-MI) for hosting, "Nakba 75," on Capitol Hill.  The event was a pro-Palestine event that can be translated to, "Israel Catastrophe."  The event decried the founding of Israel.  Scott responded to the event in a statement, " showing Americans very clearly that they do not care about Israel. It is a truly sad day for our country when Democrats so blatantly turn their backs on Jewish Americans by uniting around an antisemite who not only spreads hate but actively uses her position as a member of Congress to advance an ugly agenda with the purpose of degrading our special relationship and strong alliance with Israel."

This week, Scott met with a number of military officials and Prime Minister Netanyahu to, "discuss our work to advance national security and economic interests, and reinforce our commitment to promote and protect America's valuable relationships with our partners across the Middle East."

The recent move by Scott is considered controversial, as Israel has just conducted a two-day air raid of the city of Jenin.  The attacks were in an effort to target militant Palestinian strongholds. At least 11 people died in the military raid, the largest in the West Bank in about 20 years, and more than 100 others were injured, according to humanitarian organizations responding to the operation.

In the Summer of 2021, tensions mounted between Israel and Palestine as air strikes became common place.  During the height of the conflict, Scott refused to not stand by Israel.  For 11 days this month, we saw Hamas rockets rain down on our great ally Israel. Instead of coming together to stand for Israel and condemn these terrorists, we saw the Democrats turn their backs on Israel,"  adding "President Biden’s State Department is confused about how to prevent American taxpayer dollars from going to terrorists. This lack of accountability or concern is absolutely disgusting and I won’t allow it."
