President Trump Endorses Senator Scott in Reelection bid

President Donald Trump (R) has endorsed Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) in his reelection bid to the U.S. Senate. The endorsement comes after Senator Scott endorsed President Trump over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) in the contentious 2024 Republican presidential primary contest.

Sharing the endorsement on Truth Social, President Trump announced that Senator Scott had his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”

“I have known Rick for a long time, as both a businessman and great Governor of FLORIDA, and there are very few like him!” Trump wrote, adding that Senator Scott is “strong on the Border, Crime, our Great Military/Vets, our Second Amendment, and the only person who has been willing to take on the very destructive Super RINO, Mitch McConnell.”

“Everyone in Florida should help Senator Rick Scott have a big win next year!” President Trump concluded.

Senator Scott responded to the endorsement on social media, writing that he was “honored” to have the endorsement of the presidential hopeful. He then went on to express that 2024 would be the year Republicans “retire Joe Biden, elect a Republican senate majority, and turn our country around.”

The former governor of Florida endorsed President Trump earlier this year, which was seen as a political swipe at Governor DeSantis. Both Governor DeSantis and Senator Scott are rumored to be involved in a rivalry although no such rivalry has ever been confirmed.

In an op-ed that was published by Newsweek, Senator Scott wrote "I support my friend President Donald J. Trump to be the 47th president of the United States and encourage every Republican to unite behind his efforts to win back the White House."

President Trump, who’s leading by a wide margin in the primary polls, has similarly received significant support from lawmakers in Florida. This has bolstered his political rivalries with both Governor DeSantis and President Joe Biden (D).

President Biden’s sinking poll numbers have alarmed Democrats, who’ve recently become critical of the president over his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas.

This week, President Biden commented on the presidential race, affirming that “if Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running. But we cannot let him win.”
